Today’s guest post comes from the beloved Erica over at HonestlyWTF. They’ve just launched a new site, HonestlyYUM, which is filled with mouth-watering recipes and DIY tutorials centered around food and entertaining. It’s definitely worth checking out (now!). I’ve been wanting to make my own tiered dessert stand for awhile now. However, the risk of …

Living right by the West Side Highway, I’ve noticed increasing number of bikes riding the path every morning. And with more bikers around now then ever before across the country, it’s time someone created a line of fashionable bikes. Martone Cycling Co. has done just that.
Currently, the collection ranges in the staple monochrome colors of white, red, black, silver and gold, all of which were branded by Lorenzo Martone Cyclcing Company with a red chain and a cute handle-bar basket. But the brand plans to launch candy-colored bikes for spring and introduce a line of accessories.
Influenced by the way fashion houses brand their wares, Martone has created a signature “look” for their bikes – the red chain is inspired by red-soled Louboutins. However, they still maintain a technical edge, such as the bike’s duomatic gear system. Stylish and technically advanced? Sounds like a winner…

It’s no secret we love Karima Cammell of famed crepe paper source Castle in the Air. Remember the amazing tour she gave us of her whimsical shop in Berkeley? She’s our go-to source for crepe paper (used in projects here and here). Seeing as she is an incredibly talented artist herself, we asked her to …

The rain let up today, and we enjoyed a bit of sunshine. When you live in state that is socked in much of the time you truly appreciate the sun when it shows its face. Just like deployments or family or anything in life, when you are without you treasure as even more precious the moments you do have.
Today we relished the break from tears and rain, and let the sunshine in.
Happy Friday

Last year, after my mom found out that her brain cancer was terminal, she had a goal of making a quilt for each one of us kids and all of her grandkids. In the six months that she lived (and with the use of only one hand due to the tumor) she made 24 quilts. Torrey helped her with some of the quilts. This was the quilt that mom made and helped pin. Precious moments.
“There is only one reason why all grown-up people do not play with toys; and it is a fair reason. The reason is that playing with toys takes so very much more time and trouble than anything else. Playing as children mean playing is the most serious thing in the world; and as soon as we have small duties or small sorrows we have to abandon to some extent so enormous and ambitions a plan of life. We have enough strength for politics and commerce and art and philosophy; we have not enough strength for play.”
