So when I just received another order (psst, it’s for Blake), I just had to share this with everyone. …

DIY Thanksgiving hostess gift {Part 2}

by PixieThisBlogger on November 17, 2012

in Wedding Ideas

Part 2 of our DIY Thanksgiving is a hostess gift or centerpiece from Brighter Day Floral Design, one of our favorite Boulder florists. Give a brighter day & show your gratitude this Thanksgiving with this DIY hostess gift that you can easily make! If you’re not the DIY type just call Brighter Day or your local florist and have them make this lovely gift for you!

This fall flower arrangement can be quickly & easily assembled and is unique & stylish.
The flowers and vase can be found at local grocery stores such as Whole Foods, or from local florist.

Start with 1 bunch of fall colored tulips (10 stems), 6-7 stems of green wheat
and some seasonal berries (we used privet berries, but any berries will work)
and a clear rectangular vase filled with cool water.

Remove the lower leaves on the tulip stems and scrape with a knife until the stems are smooth. Rinse off any dirt or sand.

Place the tulips in the vase, one by one, with the stems all in the same diagonal direction.

Add the green wheat for texture, stem by stem, intermixed with the tulips

Lastly add the berries, tucked low at the top of the vase on the opposite
side from the tulips…and voila, you are a floral designer!

Thank you to Brighter Day Floral for providing this easy and beautiful DIY hostess gift design, as well as the information and images.

Brighter Day Floral Design is located in Boulder Colorado and is very thankful for their
loyal customers, wonderful brides & local weekly accounts!

Gift for a (Future) Bread Baker

February 4, 2011

When my dear friend came to visit, I made the no-knead bread for her. (I must admit a slight obsession with baking that bread … it is almost as satisfying to me as finishing a perfectly crafted/sewn/knit gift). My friend loved the bread, but given that she lives far away and I can’t make it [...]
